This 90-minute webinar provides a comprehensive look at alcohol use through an epidemiological lens, highlighting its impact on various body systems and associated health risks. Participants will learn why alcohol screening is essential in primary care and how to effectively use the AUDIT-C tool to identify patients at risk.The session explores both FDA-approved and off-label medications for treating alcohol use disorder, offering practical guidance through case-based examples that illustrate how to tailor treatment plans to individual patient needs. In addition, the webinar emphasizes patient-centered engagement strategies, including trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing, to foster meaningful conversations and support behavior change.
This course is eligible for 1.5 CE credit.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion, learners will be able to:
Describe why interprofessional alcohol use screening, diagnosis and treatment of AUD in outpatient and urgent care settings is important for patient care and public health.
Apply successful evidenced based strategies to address unhealthy alcohol use and AUD.
Apply best practice approaches for screening and evaluating patients’ alcohol use andreadiness to change including the following approaches: TIC, destigmatizing languageand behavior, MI and cultural humility.
List the FDA and off label medications indicated for AUD.
