Overview
This webinar discusses school-based interventions for addressing alcohol use disorder. The webinar reviews risk and protective factors for youth alcohol use at the individual and family level. It identifies key components of prevention strategies and includes examples of universal and selective prevention programs for adolescents and young adults.The presenter uses thoughtful prompts and questions to help learners reflect, make informed choices, and prepare to take effective action in preventing alcohol use in youth.
The target audience for this activity includes all clinical healthcare professionals and those working with youth or the school-system.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion, learners will be able to:
- Describe the role of youth risk and protective factors contributing to the initiation of alcohol use and alcohol consequences.
- Define 3 prevention approaches.
- Compare the efficacy of universal and selective school-based prevention strategies.
- Review the efficacy of higher education school-based prevention approaches.
