Overview

Alcohol is the most commonly used substance in the United States, yet many are unaware of its risks. In this 60-minute webinar, Dr. Edwin Salsitz will provide an overview of the prevalence of alcohol use and alcohol-related deaths in the United States. Societal normalization of alcohol use is explored and its impact on health and well-being. The webinar also provides insights into the risks associated with heavy alcohol consumption, including injuries, disease burden, and violence. 

The target audience for this introductory level activity includes: All healthcare professionals including social workers, counselors, and other clinicians part of the care team.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, learners will be able to:

1. Identify the prevalence of alcohol use and alcohol-related deaths in the United States
2. Describe the risks and harms associated with heavy alcohol consumptions, including injuries, disease burden, and violence.

Nurses

This activity awards 1 Nursing contact hours.

Pharmacy

PAs
